Background

It’s not always clear how to find a therapist in the United Kingdom.

Instructions

  1. Go through directories online, BACP.co.uk for example.
  2. Tick the boxes in the filters for the specific issues I wanted help with.
  3. Read through their profiles and looked up terms you don’t know.
  4. Filter out the ones that aren’t affordable or otherwise don’t look like a match.
  5. Contact one or two and scheduled a phone call with them for a free chat.
  6. Attened your first session and see how things go from there. Pay attention to how comfortable you feel and if they’re a good fit. You’re not obligated to stay with them. You need to feel safe and at ease with your therapist.
